Incident on M11

Anyone coming to Harlow for tonight’s AGM please note: there has been an accident on the M11 between J27 (Harlow) and J28 (B Stortford). Oil spillage.

It would be advisable to avoid the M11 J27. Either come from London via the Crooked Mile or the A10>414, or come from the North get off at J28 and come down the A11.

2016 AGM Agenda

Please find attached the Agenda for our 2016 AGM, which takes place in Harlow as usual at the Latton Bush Centre on Wednesday 16th November 8pm.

This agenda includes my organiser’s report, along with the list of clubs participating and their positions following promotion/relegation this year. May I please ask you all to confirm before the AGM whether your club intends to participate in the 2017 season.

There are two other  documents for your perusal ahead of the AGM:

Minor changes to the Constitution and Rules will be adopted at the AGM. This will bring us into line with ASA requirements: no changes to the events, draw or points system.

There has been an application from Hillingdon SC to join the M11 League. This has been submitted in good time; they do not intend to participate in any other Junior League and I cannot forsee any objection that would prevent their acceptance at the AGM. As per rules, they will need to join the league at the bottom of Div 2.

We look forward to welcoming you and encourage as many of you as possible to attend the AGM.

Southern Area Final 2016

Congratulations to Thurrock SC, who represented the M11 League at the Southern Area Final in Weston Super Mare on 2nd October.

Thurrock came 5th, ahead of some much larger clubs including City of Leicester, and missing out on 4th place by just 16 points.

Head Coach Paul Robbins was very proud of his swimmers and coaching team.
“We had a great time and would do it again – definitely”

2016 round 3 results

Thank you to all our host clubs, referees and officials. Round 3 final results are now in and posted on our website.

Many congratulations to Thurrock, overall winners of the M11 League, who go forward to represent us at the southern area final on 2nd October 2016, where we hope they will be successful enough to progress to the national final in Corby on 27 November 2016. The venue for the the southern area final will be published shortly by this year’s hosts, the Southern League.

As I predicted the competition this year was extremely close, with two teams tying on league points – 2nd place going to Basildon based on total gala points, but very few points separating all of the teams in the division 1 final.  I predict 2017 season to be even more competitive, which is exactly how we want to prepare our young swimmers for the National league.

Once again, I’d like to thank all our volunteers and hosts for running an efficient and fair competition, particularly Henry Watkinson and Matthew Hart who were a great support to me. I hope you have all enjoyed it.

Round 3 fixtures

As stated, I’ve now amended the round 2 gala points from gala two events 3 & 4, but this did not affect the placings or league points resulting from that gala, so Harlow just stays ahead of Camden on league points. Thus the lane draw for the final round is not affected. I’ve also fixed the contradiction so its clear the start times of each gala, and just be clear, the round 1 amendment of Thurrock results was a 10 year old swimmer, not 9 (seems I never do anything once when I can do it twice!)

Hosts for your final galas:
Basildon Phoenix
Enfield Swim Squad
Anaconda
Halsted

@Dunmow and Harlow: you will be meeting up with Braintree on 4th June for the Essex League. Please ensure you collect the trophies and medals from Henry for the JSL and bring them along to your round 3 meets.  Braintree will take the trophies to Southbury and Henry will take them to Freeport.

Please do not forget to return the CTK and DQ slips to me. So far, only had those from one of the round 2 galas.

This is going to be an extremely close and exciting final. Any one of 5 clubs could take 3rd place. Obviously I’d love to watch my club compete… but chances are I will need to help Henry with Halsted.

Good luck everyone!

Round 2 amendments

Quick blog. There’ll be a minor amendment to round 2 points when I get a chance. Braintree gala events 3 and 4 placings don’t take into account only 7 teams swam. Overall it doesn’t look enough to swap over the lane allocations for the finals.

Also note there is a contradiction in the start times of round 3.  The table at the bottom of the page is correct. I will fix soon.
